Dear Friend,
Happy New Year 2019!

2018 Confirmed That Inventions Are Still King

Even though the Supreme Court has made it increasingly challenging to patent certain kinds of inventions, the fact that U.S. Patent 10,000,000 was granted this year is a reminder that patents still thrive as an essential tool for protecting developments in technology.  Our firm continues to implement intellectual property strategies for our clients' valuable inventions.  To read some of their patents, click here.

Elman Technology Law Presentations

Gerry Elman and Josh Waterston gave talks on a variety of topics this year, including patents, cybersecurity, trade secrets, and the Internet of Things. Below are links to several of our slideshows.  Learn and Enjoy!

Blockchain: Ready for Prime Time

In 2018, we've worked with companies implementing novel embodiments of blockchain technology.  Though sometimes overhyped as the engine for cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, blockchain can be a tool to create immutable records of data streaming in from various sources.  We're excited at its potential and look forward to helping clients protect their cutting-edge blockchain inventions in 2019.

The Internet of Things

This year, Gerry Elman spoke several times about the fast-changing field of Internet of Things (IoT) devices.  He's also  co-organizer of the Tri-State IoT Meetup.  Not only has he been sharing news about IoT developments, but he's also enjoyed having an excuse to play with many IoT gadgets. For information about the Meetup click here.  Also, listen to Gerry's interview about intellectual property and smart clothing in this IoClothes podcast.

From Gerry Elman, M.P. Moon, Joshua Holmes, Joshua Waterston, and Kathy Diggins, we wish you a very Happy New Year and prosperous 2019!
